Icelandic Mondays With Mammút

Mammút is an Icelandic post-punk staple. They formed in 2004 and after winning a battle of the bands competition have since taken off.

They started off in high school and if you listen to their older music vs. their current music you can clearly see how their style has changed and evolved over the years, no doubt as they have changed from teenagers into young adults. This power group is made up of three girls and two boys. Kata, the lead vocalist, can pound out classic aggressive punk prose but can also surprisingly sing in beautiful, melodic chants as well.

I caught a glimpse of them in Iceland last year and they blew me away. Check out one of their first music videos below and one of their current tracks via Soundcloud below.
