Austra: A Visual History In Music Videos

Austra stole my heart back in 2009-2010 when I was walking into Sonic Boom (when it was still on Bloor) and I saw their vinyl EP for Beat and Pulse. It was also around the time that Trust (Maya Postepski and Robert Alfons) started to come out with some tracks. Mama tells you not to judge a book by its cover, fortunately, that is exactly what I did. I couldn’t resist the black and white cover with two goth girls on the front. I had to figure out who this group was. Since then I have been in love with Katie Stelmanis for her incredible and a touch haunting vocals, as well as the band as a whole.

Today, the group released a trippy, fun, bizarre music video for Hurt Me Now, one of my favourite tracks off of their sophomore album Olympia. I didn’t have any doubts that I wasn’t going to love it, Austra has been in my top music videos of 2012 and 2013.

In honour of that music video, I decided to create a little post with all of their official music videos to date. Here they are in order:

Beat and Pulse

Lose It

Painful Like

Forgive Me

Hurt Me Now

    • They are great! Maya Postepski (Drummer in Austra) used to also be in a band called Trust (with Robert Alfons) that is also really good. They are different than Austra but maybe you’ll like that too! 🙂
